You'll also want to make sure the ramp has railings in case your wheelchair goes berserk one day, that it will have good traction in all types of weather, and that it will hold up in the face of the elements (and bugs) if it's going to be built outside.
If you are short on space, you may want to consider a wheelchair lift, but for the budget-conscious a wheelchair ramps is a great option.
