Do you need a power wheel chair to help you get around your home, office, or through your city streets? For many people with mobility challenges, a power wheel chair is like a blessing from heaven. Finally having the ability to get around by yourself again – and quickly too – is such a relief.

However, once you start shopping for a power chair, you may quickly be disappointed to find out how expensive they can be. Fortunately, there are a number of ways you can save money on your next power chair.

How To Find A Cheap power Wheel Chair For Sale

Buy a used power chair

Buy a smaller or lighter chair than you originally had thought you might

Look for coupons and sales on your wheelchair

Find out from your wheelchair vendor whether your insurance, Medicare or Medicaid will help pay for some or all of the cost of your wheelchair. You may be surprised to find out you qualify to get the wheelchair you want for very little or no cost.

When you are deciding which wheelchair or mobility scooter to get, be sure to consider a few important things.

What is the battery life when the wheelchair battery is fully charged? How long does it take to charge up, and how many years will the battery last before it needs to be replaced.

How will you transport your wheelchair? Finding a good way to get your wheelchair wherever you’re driving can be difficult. You can look at wheelchair vans, but many folding wheelchairs can be placed in your trunk. Some mobility scooters can be mounted to a hitch on the back of your car.

How many bells and whistles do you need? Some wheelchairs come with storage space for packages, drink holders, and padding to make them more comfortable. Think about how you’ll use the wheelchair and whether these features will be worth what you pay for them. I think in general, if you’re going to be using your wheelchair a lot, it makes sense to get one that you like, even if it does cost a little bit more.

The good news is that there are a lot of different places to choose from when it comes to getting a wheelchair you like. This fierce competition means a good selection and low prices for you! Shop around on eBay and look at our recommended suppliers to find a wheelchair provider of power wheelchairs you can feel enthusiastic about.

With the advent of latest technology, the term “physically disabled” has gone extinct, thanks to the rocketing growth in science and technology. Many physically disabled people have found a solution to their immobility problem through various methods. Some of the famous ways are the power wheelchair and the disability scooters.

Nevertheless, when it comes to choosing between the power wheelchair and the disability scooter, it is a hard choice to make. However, the disability scooter proves to be a notch higher than the power wheelchair. Let us see why. First, the power wheelchair does not provide easy mobility. That is taking it from one place to another place is somewhat difficult when compared to the disability scooter. The fact that it is not portable makes it a poor product in front of the customers who mainly lookout for the ease of portability. They cannot be folded and they are always huge and big when compared to the disability scooter. When houses have narrow doorways, it can be difficult to get the wheelchair into the doorway. This problem is taken care of by the disability scooter as they fit through any narrow doorways.

However, you need to know some facts before you buy a disability scooter. First of all, there are two types of disability scooters that are available namely the electrically powered version and the gas powered version. When it comes to popularity among the masses, the electric powered wheelchairs are more popular than the gas powered ones for quite a few obvious reasons. The main reason is that certain states have banned the use of these gas-powered wheelchairs just because it causes pollution and a lot of inconvenience to those around it. This problem is taken care of by the electric powered wheelchair since it emits no harmful gases as effluents. All you need is just an electric outlet and your wheelchair is on the move. The next reason the gas-powered wheelchair is not that popular is that it costs a lot of money as compared to the electric powered scooters.

Even though, the electric disability scooters were not that popular in the early days, over the years it has been developed considerably. The present scooter is easy to transport from place to place and it can also run for hours without the need to recharge them. On an average, the electric disability scooters run for 25 to 30 miles before they need to be recharged again. Above all, before you buy a disability scooter, you must look in for safety and comfort instead of cost issues and then life will be independent.

A mobility scooter is a great tool that helps one suffering limited mobility with traveling issues. It opens doors and allows the world to become a larger place again, but these scooters do not come cheap. Buying a used mobility scooter can be the solution to getting the mobility you need at a price you can afford.

First, you should check with your insurance company. Many insurance companies will pay for a mobility scooter or will at least cover part of the costs. This is the best way to go if you are looking at getting a mobility scooter. If your insurance company does not cover a mobility scooter, then looking for a used mobility scooter can help you save a lot of money. You do not have to worry about purchasing a used scooter either. They are built to last a long time and while they are customizable, it is not in direct relation to the person’s size, age or condition. Therefore, there are only a few things to check out before making a purchase.

The first thing to consider when buying a used mobility scooter is the battery. Ask the owner to charge the battery so you can try it. While buying a used scooter does not mean that you have to keep the battery it has, it is a good idea to know that you have a battery there for when you first get it. Next, you will want to check the tires. Once again, you can replace these, but you will want to be sure that you will be able to go when you first get them. It should also be noted that small tires that are smooth are best for use inside and on paved sidewalks. Larger, more textured tires are good for use on rough surfaces and uneven ground. Finally, you will want to sit in the seat. It should be comfortable to you and meet your current needs. Yes, you can upgrade and buy a seat that meets your needs right away, but right now you will want to know if it is comfortable. It is also important to consider the material of the seat. Vinyl seats are easier to clean then cloth varieties, but they can get sticky and hot in the heat of the outdoors. They can also become uncomfortable if you will be there a long time.

Most of the features on the used mobility scooter can be upgraded or replaced. This will make the scooter customizable to your own needs. You can get a new battery, new charger, new tires and even upgraded ones to meet your needs, a new seat, and so much more. This makes it easier to look at the scooter. If something is torn, worn, or not as you desire it to be you can change it with the help of the manufacturer.

Generally, it is a good idea to talk with the owner if possible. You should ask how the scooter was used and any problems that the owner has had with it. This is an important decision and knowing as much as you can, can make it easier to make a wise and informed decision. You should also remember that the used mobility scooter is easily upgraded and parts are easily replaced!

There are many different wheelchair manufacturers offering lightweight manual wheelchairs. With so many manufacturers, types, options, and features it can be confusing when choosing the lightweight wheelchair for you. These wheelchairs come in three main types. You will be able to choose from a rigid, a folding or a titanium model manual wheelchair. Each has its advantages and disadvantages.

Rigid Lightweight wheelchairs are the ultra light of these particular types of wheelchairs. These keep their shape and you cannot fold them down, which makes them harder to store should you need to do that. However, with out nuts, bolts and hinges to allow the chair to fold up it is kept at the lightest weight possible. This is the type of wheelchair you choose if you are interested in going fast, doing sports with your chair, or you will not need to fold it up in order to take it with you. These chairs also come with many great customizable features such as push handles, flip-up armrests and even light up casters if you wish.

Folding lightweight wheelchairs are designed to do just as their name suggests. They are still light, but they cannot be as light as the rigid chairs because of the parts necessary to fold it up. With a simple pull of the seat and a push of the arms, it folds up. It can then be put into the trunk of a car and it is easily stored folded up in a closet. This is a great option for those who don’t need to use their lightweight wheelchair everyday or who will only be in a wheelchair for a short period.

Finally, there are titanium versions. These lightweight wheelchairs come in both the rigid and the folding varieties. They are however made from titanium, which is lightweight, strong and more durable. The metal also has some shock absorbing properties. These are more expensive then the other varieties and they take longer to custom build, but they are the most luxurious choice for both rigid and folding lightweight wheelchairs. These should be considered if you feel that your chair might get a lot of use, you may be using it heavily, or you want it to last longer through regular use. These are more likely to be durable and to see less wear and tear with heavy use.

No matter which type of wheelchair you choose, you will be able to get mobile again. These chairs are for those who have the ability and desire to be independent. Because of their lightweight design they are easier to propel, easier to maneuver, and easier to travel with. They are also less expensive then traditional wheelchairs. Each such wheelchair will be marked K0004 because this is the medical marking for the lightweight variety of wheelchairs. With so many advantages to the lightweight you now only need to consider what you will be using your chair for, how you will transport it, how often you will transport it, and whether you will use it indoors, outdoors, or both.

If you have recently been told you should use a wheelchair then you should consider several things before deciding to buy a used wheelchair. It is not usually recommended that you buy a wheelchair that has been owned and used by another because of the customized features that go into a wheelchair. Wheelchairs are usually chosen according to the fit of the person with height, weight and width taken into consideration when the wheelchair is purchased. Additionally the person’s limitations, needs and condition will also be taken in consideration when the wheelchair is chosen and fitted for the original user. Because of this, you should never buy a used wheelchair if you will be using it permanently.

If you are going to be using the wheelchair temporarily then a used one might work for you. There are still a few things that you should consider though. First, buying a used electric wheelchair is a bad idea. Warranties do not transfer with the ownership of the wheelchair and they are often sold as is. You may save money on the purchase only to find out that it is going to be expensive to repair it. You should always avoid buying highly customized manual wheelchairs such as those used for sports. Injury can occur from using a wheelchair that is not fit for you when you are doing intense activity. Used manual wheelchairs should only be purchased if they are basic and not highly customized.

The first thing to know is that shopping around for a used wheelchair is the best idea. It will get you a better deal; it will also give you an idea of how much you should pay, and will allow you to pick one that is at least comfortable to you.

Make sure you sit in a wheelchair before you buy it. You want to check your height and your width to the chair before you commit to buy. The wrong size could cause you pain and discomfort later on down the road. Additionally you should check all aspects of the chair for damage. Weak points, tears and damage to the metal could cause you dangerous problems later on. Buy a used wheelchair only if it is in good condition. Your safety is more important than saving some money.

You can find used wheelchairs online, in the classified sections, at garage sales, and you can ask around and often find someone who has one they would be willing to sell. Just make sure you check it out before you commit to buy. It is never advisable to buy a used electric chair or a used highly customized manual chair such as a sports wheelchair. However, it is safe to buy a manual wheelchair that is in good condition and feels comfortable to you as long as you will not be using it forever. One last tip though. It is a good idea to check with your insurance company before you start shopping for a used wheelchair. Insurance companies, even for short-term use, pay for many chairs and that can save you even more money and get you a chair that is fit for you.

Wheelchairs are commonly used to provide mobility to those who struggle with it whether they are handicapped, elderly or temporarily injured. There is a wide range of wheelchairs available. They come in many sizes, styles, and even with a wide variety of features. However, the lightweight wheelchair remains a popular choice for many people.

This particular type of wheelchair is not for everyone. There are many people who need more aid then this simple wheelchair can provide. However, the lightweight wheelchair works wonderful for people with some mobility, those who are looking to remain active and those who are only going to be using a wheelchair for a short time.

The lightweight wheelchair does offer many advantages. It comes in a variety of sizes and is able to carry people of all sizes. You can get padded backs, arms, seats, and even foot rests to help meet the needs of the person who will be using it. Baskets are available to sit over the lap or to carry items behind the seat. These wheelchairs come in a wide range of prices from about $200 to $800 depending on the features that are chosen. Most such wheelchairs fold up for easy mobility and easy storage.

The folding lightweight wheelchair is another popular choice. It is easily folded and can be placed in the trunk of a car without much difficultly. This is great for those who make many trips or for those who need the wheelchair only for going out because of its compact size and easy storage. Those with a fair amount of mobility often use it, but who need a little help when out of the house, at the store, or visiting others. They are also a common choice for those who are temporarily in a wheelchair because they are one of the least expensive options available. These chairs can be self-propelled or they can be pushed form behind by a caregiver.

One popular option is the “quickie”. The “quickie” is made from an aluminum frame and only contains the bare necessities. They can be self-propelled using the large back wheels and while they can be pushed often those who choose these chairs do so because of the independence they can give. Those who continue to remain active can also use these types of wheelchairs. They can be used to play basketball and tennis, as well as other physical activities letting their users participate in hobbies and sports.

Lightweight wheelchairs and Lightweight Mobility Scooters provide many great features for many people who need the aid of a wheelchair. While they do not have all the amazing features of some of the expensive electric options. They are excellent options for those who are remaining active, those who have decent mobility around house and use the wheelchair while out and about, and for those who are temporarily in a wheelchair.

When To Replace Wheelchair Parts

Wheelchairs are the perfect solution to those with limited mobility or the inability to move on their own. They give freedom to the user and allow them to get around on their own when they might not have other wise been able to do that. They come in a wide range of styles and are available to meet the users needs. They are constructed for people of every size, shape and age. Wheelchairs provide the features that their users need to make their life a full one.

While wheelchairs are definitely the answer to many mobility problems, wheelchair parts are often subject to wear and tear. Many of the parts that are on a wheelchair commonly become worn and may even break.

Batteries are often an item that runs out and needs to be replaced. In some cases, the parts themselves will have individual batteries that are not chargeable. These simply need to be replaced with the correct size of battery when they run out. Other batteries are designed to be charged up on a regular basis. Over time, these batteries may get shorter and shorter charge lives. It is always a good idea to read the manual to make sure you get the most out of the life of your battery by following the battery care instructions. Should your battery begin to have a shorter charge life then it can be replaced.

Other wheelchair parts are also commonly worn and can be carefully replaced. On board battery, chargers commonly become faulty and need to be replaced. The parts of a joystick may become worn and need to be replaced to keep it working optimally. As with many vehicles drive belts, tires and tubes, bearings, and casters will all need to be replaced at some point in time. Then there is the comfort aspect of the wheelchair that is likely to become worn out. These include footrests, leg rests, hand rims, armrests and calf pads. Each of these can be replaced as they become worn.

More important wheelchair parts that may need fixing and replacing from time to time include electric motors, gearboxes and breaks. Often these parts have to be done by a professional to make sure that they are done well and are safe for use. In addition to the wheelchair parts that may need fixing or repairing there are a number of accessories that may need to be taken care of regularly. These can include cushions, baskets and other on board storage, footrest pads and padded footplates.

Taking good care of your wheelchair’s parts is the first step in taking good care of the wheelchair. General maintenance, regular tune-ups, and regular upkeep as well as fixing problems right away will go a long way in keeping a wheelchair working well. As with all major purchases and vehicles care and maintenance will keep it working well and as it should allowing the wheelchair to continue to work for the user long into the future.

Wheelchair vans come in a wide range of options and are available all over the United States. With several things to consider when choosing the best wheelchair van for you and your needs it can feel a little overwhelming. Take a deep breath and know that there is the perfect van out there for you. It will have the features that you need and will make your life one of improved mobility.

A wheelchair van is converted van that has been supplied with the accessories that a person in a wheelchair needs to get around. They come in a rear entry version with a ramp out the back or a side entry version with a lift. Rear entry vans work well for those who will be riding in the van, but won’t be driving it. On the other hand, side entry vans work very well for those who will be driving themselves.

A rear entry van will have a ramp that is counter-balanced and loaded with magnetic anti-rattle provisions. This makes the ramp safer and less noisy during travel. Often these ramps are manual and fold up, but some can be found with electronic or hydraulic ramps.

Your wheelchair van will be fitted with a number of features for safety, comfort and convenience. Your van will have either a lowered floor or a raised roof. This gives more head space and makes it easier for the person in the wheelchair. The floor will be of a durable steel supported fiberglass and will have an anti-slip surface for easy and safe maneuvering. Customizable features include the ability to have two wheelchairs in the van or even a wheelchair and a mobility scooter. You can choose where and how you would like safety features such as four or five point tie downs for the wheelchairs and how you would like the seat belts to be arranged. Additionally your van can be equipped with total hand controls, 6-way power seat in driver position, and even outside entry controls. Vans can even be fitted with easily accessible storage for those needing to carry items along with them.

Wheelchair vans come in a wide variety of manufacturers, price ranges and styles. You can find many dealers who buy and sell these types of vans at a reasonable price and often the first step is to visit with them. You may be able to get a wheelchair van in the form of a Ford Winstar, Ford Freestar, Ford Mercury Monterey, Dodge Grand Caravan, or even options for Chevrolet, GM, Plymouth, Honda, and Toyota.

Buying a wheelchair van is an important decision. You need to consider how you will be using it and the features that you need. You should also consider how much money you can spend and where you will go to get the van. It is always a good idea to talk to the dealer about your needs with the hopes that they can help you get a van that will meet those needs and make your life easier and more efficient.

A power chair is a wheelchair that is electronically controlled. They are useful for people who have limited mobility. Many of them are able to be used inside, outside, or both. Moreover, they come in center or rear wheel drive making them easily maneuverable. With so many features, you can consider each of your needs to find the perfect chair for you.

The first set of features that you should consider when looking at getting a power chair involves travel. There are a few types of power chairs that fold up and that don’t weight much. These work well for traveling, putting the chair in the car, and even help with storage issues. However, they offer few comfort features so are not ideal if you won’t be putting your chair in the car often.

You can find the perfect power chair whatever your needs are. There are many different features designed to make your life more comfortable. First, you can find a wheelchair that allows you to have an elevated leg rest or even a power-elevating seat. You can also choose a seat that is perfect for you. Many are available with a “captain seat” similar to those found in automobiles. These seats often offer semi-reclining backs and even headrests. You should also consider how wide the seat should be.

In addition to car travel and comfort concerns there are the capabilities of the power chair on the road. Many power wheelchairs have the ability to go over rough terrain in addition to standard paved surfaces. While they are not able to handle true off road experiences they can handle dirt paths, rocky surfaces and uneven pavement with ease. Many wheelchairs can get up to 7mph and they can go for as many as 15 miles on a single battery charge. These features allow you to get out of the house and visit around the neighborhood whether it is going a few miles to see a friend or doing a little shopping near by.

While these chairs have many great features to choose from there are a few things to consider. First most wheelchairs have a maximum weight capacity. It is very important that you get a chair able to handle your weight, whatever that might be. Aiming for 50 pounds more then what you weight is a good idea. This can get harder if you are over 280 pounds as most chairs have a 300-pound maximum. However, you can find a few that are made for heavier weights.

Additionally you will want to make sure that you choose a power chair that has all the features you will need. You should not choose an indoor only electric wheelchair and then start using it outdoors. Nor should you get one that does not travel and then have to suffer with trying to get it to work. Each feature should be carefully considered before you make your choice.
